DUTIES:

  • Reporting to the Manager of Energy Initiatives, this position will be responsible to identify, assess, report and implement energy savings opportunities within the corporation’s building/facility portfolio; 
  • Will review existing reports/data and undertake a primary assessment of city sites with a focus on major energy users to identify savings opportunities and identify operations/systems that will require more detailed analysis;
  • Develop and deliver training to city staff on the energy tracking and monitoring system; review control systems, operating schedules and maintenance practices at each facility to identify operational savings;
  • Develop maintenance practices and programs to enhance energy efficiency;
  • Develop and recommend an energy saving and opportunities action plan that includes capital improvement projects as well as operational and maintenance changes;
  • Coordinate the implementation of energy saving projects including planning, and budgeting with service providers;
  • Implement an employee training and awareness program that promotes energy efficiency initiatives undertaken;
  • Assist with fostering sustainable energy management culture within the corporation;
  • Coordinate and assist with site inspections by Enwin Utilities and Independent Electricity Systems Operator to review projects and related information;
  • Prepares quarterly reports; 
  • Will perform Occupational Health and Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program;
  • Will perform other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a University degree in Engineering or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years experience within energy management, building environment systems and program management
  • OR Must have a post secondary school community College diploma in Engineering Technician or Technologist or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years experience within energy management, building environment systems and program management.  
  • Must have or be willing to obtain Certified Energy Management certification (CEM) within one (1) year of start date.
  • Must have the ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and expedient manner as required.  If method of travel is by vehicle a current valid and lawful driver’s licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must have experience in a computerized office environment.
  • Must have project management experience.
  • Must possess good written and oral communications skills.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a sedentary level of work.
