DUTIES:

  • Reporting to the Manager, Integrated Employment Services or designate, this position will be responsible for the development and maintenance of an ongoing staff training program for Integrated Employment Services staff along with external community partners as well as the supervision of a team of staff involved in the delivery of training and policy development;
  • To meet the overall goals and objectives of the Employment and Social Services department. Responsible for ensuring the prompt dissemination of staff development information pertaining to approved changes in related regulations, policy and procedures. 
  • Will obtain and provide resource material to assist in the development of staff. 
  • The successful candidate will liaise where necessary with the Human Resources Department as to training programs, hiring practices and procedures of the Corporation.
  • This will involve, but not limited to, the completion of periodic training needs assessments and the establishment of a performance management process that defines staff performance objectives.
  • The development of policies and procedures for the effective implementation of Integrated Employment Services programming. 
  • The incumbent will serve as the trainer and conduct training sessions as required.
  • Will perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program. 
  • Will perform other related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma combined with a Community College diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Social Science or related field or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalencies and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in a social services field to acquire researching, analysing, organizing, planning and interviewing skills;
  • OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma combined with one (1) year post secondary education in the area of Social Services, Human Resources or Business, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and minimum four (4) years of experience in the social services field to acquire researching, analysing, organizing, planning and interviewing skills;
  • OR Must have an Ontario Secondary School Graduation Diploma or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and minimum six (6) years of experience in the social services field. to acquire researching, analysing, organizing, planning and interviewing skills.
  • Must have the ability to travel to off site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required.  If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver's Licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Must demonstrate an ability to work with minimal direction, have excellent analytical and organizational abilities. 
  • Must have ability to train in a diverse program environment. 
  • Must have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must have operating knowledge in computer systems/programs. 
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
  • Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program.
  • Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset.
  • The ideal candidate will have had experience delivering & facilitating a variety of Corporate Training Programs.
  • A University degree in the Social Sciences or Business would be considered an asset.
  • Courses in Public Administration, Management, Social Work, Human Resources and Communications would be considered an asset. 
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a sedentary level of work.
