DUTIES:

Reporting to the Manager of Technology Infrastructure, this position will be responsible to provide  technical analysis, support, consulting, capacity planning and Information Technology policy and procedure services to the Corporation of the City of Windsor and related agencies, boards and commissions on Corporate electronic information technology issues, including, but not limited to:  data network infrastructure, telecommunications and voice network infrastructure, server and storage infrastructure, building automation systems, CCTV networks, mobile and IoT technologies, database administration, email administration, Internet support, Corporate and departmental server administration, application integration, disaster recovery and business continuity planning, network printing services, system performance analysis and Corporate security services.  This position may be required to be on call or visit other City locations requiring technical assistance or trouble shooting.  Current hardware/software platforms include but are not limited to: Windows server/workstation and desktops, VMware virtualization technologies, Extreme network and Aruba network systems, Checkpoint and Palo Alto security products, Avaya (formally Nortel) and Mitel Communication systems.  Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health & Safety Program.  Will perform other related duties as required.                                                                                                                                                                                 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a University degree in Computer Sciences, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Mathematics or Network Engineering or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in areas such as:  Data Base administration, Security administration, Exchange email support, Network administration, Windows server and Active Directory administration, Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery administration, design and support of building automation systems, CCTV networks, SCADA technology and systems, PLC programming, mobile and cloud technology design and implementation, systems design and analysis, technical analysis for data and/or voice networks,  technical project implementation.  
  • OR Must have a 3-year post-secondary school community College Diploma in a Computer Sciences, Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Mathematics or Network Engineering related program or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of six (6) years experience in areas such as: Data Base administration, Security administration, Exchange email support, Network administration, Windows server and Active Directory administration, Backup/Recovery and Disaster Recovery administration, design and support of building automation systems, CCTV networks, SCADA technology and systems, PLC programming, mobile and cloud technology design and implementation, systems design and analysis, technical analysis for data and/or voice networks, technical project implementation.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of SQL and databases.
  • Must have the ability to travel to off-site locations in a timely and expedient manner as required.  If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver's Licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment;
  • Must have proven oral and written skills;
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with work;
  • Certification or membership in Security is an asset;
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a medium level of work;
  • Must complete a post-offer agility test in an effort to assist the successful candidate in completing the position tasks safely and to aid in minimizing injuries on the job.
