DUTIES:

  • Reporting to the CEO, Windsor Public Library, this position will be responsible for providing leadership, support and direction in the development, implementation and administration of all facilities, marketing and planning;
  • Instrumental in assisting the CEO and WPL Board in planning and prioritizing community development and marketing projects;
  • Market and develop progressive and innovative programs and projects for the community; provide guidance regarding facilities and maintenance when required;
  • Be responsible for the development and implementation of all marketing and communications initiatives, including oversight of the library internet and electronic resources and internal intranet;
  • Respond to enquiries from members of the media and general public regarding WPL programs, projects and other issues;
  • Act as WPL spokesperson when required;
  • Be responsible for the management of the Building Operations department across ten locations;
  • Set and monitor budget and staffing;
  • Initiate and direct planning sessions for library staff and managers;
  • Facilitate discussions, record and suggest recommendations, consolidate outcomes and write reports for the CEO and WPL Board;
  • Monitor expenditures of departments and projects, approve purchases when required;
  • Will perform Occupational Health & Safety duties as outlined in the Corporation’s Health and Safety Program;
  • Will perform other related duties as required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have a University Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications or Library Science and Information Studies, or Ontario Ministry of Education equivalency and a minimum of four (4) years of experience in related field.
  • Must have the ability to travel to offsite locations in a timely and expedient manner as required.  If method of travel is by vehicle, a current valid and lawful Driver's Licence is required in accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and must provide a driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
  • Should have knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, its regulations and knowledge of the hazards associated with the work.
  • Will be required to complete and remain current as per the requirements of the Corporation’s Management Certificate Program.
  • A Master’s degree in Library Science and Information Studies will be considered and asset. 
  • Progression through the Art of Supervision Program Certificate or a supervisory program of a similar nature is considered an asset.
  • The physical demands analysis associated with this job indicates a sedentary level of work.
